Time to spill the Bean...

D needs support from the Blue Army (D's family) to help with the hyperemesis gravidarum (yep - the label is official).

We're armed with ultraCakes (cupcakes with a an 8 week BrainWire ultrasound of Bean).

October was hyperemesis gravidarum month! (in the Fairnie household, at least)

We celebrated with multiple hospital trips for intravenous fluids and hardcore Dutch drugs (namely emesafene and metoclopramide).

We're back for another celebration of hyperemesis gravidarum, and another delicious hospital meal!

12 week scan at AmsterMAM.Β

Really special to see Bean rolling around and waving at us!

Popped back into the hospital to slurp a cheeky 6-pack intravenously at OLVG Oosterpark. The appetising cocktail included glucose and saline solution.

J created another BrainWire image from the 12 week ultrasound

...aaaand we're back to hospital to sip another 6-pack through the veins, and see little Bean on the big screen again.

This time, D stays overnight so they can monitor her. We had another ultrasound and heard the heartbeat again. "Your little acrobat is developing perfectly!”, said the nurse.

Unfortunately, something came up....

.... sadly it was all of D's food.

So it's back to the hospital for another drip ("the usual" 6-pack, plus a palatable potassium pack this time too!), ultrasound, hospital meal and overnight stay for D so that they can monitor her.

We discussed D's medication - specifically the possibility of taking Phenergan and Zofran as alternatives to her Emesafene and Metoclopramide. It was decided that she'd increase the Emesafene dose initially.

Back to hospital again after throwing up since 3am. D has hit rock bottom. She's lost 4kg, has rainbow (bruised) arms from all the intravenous, needs a pack of vitamins, more potassium and another Friday 6-pack cocktail.

The doctor thought D should try "proper drugs", by the name of Promethazine ("the Emesafene and Metoclopramide are clearly not working"), and guessed from the ultrasound that it might be a boy (but far too early to say at 13 weeks)!!

Little Bean is already a strong contender for the most medically imaged human on the planet (8 times in 13 weeks!).

D spends another night in hospital.

D wakes up throwing up, and we head to a 9am appointment with the doctor where D puts on her finest regurgitating performance party-trick to date. She filled 3 hospital trays with chunder (a new record in the ward).

The doctor reassessed and decided to put her on a new heavier medication. Zofran enters the game. The only next step is to admit D into hospital indefinitely on a nasal feeding tube.

Zofran seems to work wonders - so hopefully his is the end of the worst of the gruelling, draining and debilitating symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum.

The BUMPy Ride Gets The Great Reset.

The Zofran Pil(l)s(ner) seems to be working... D can finally eat, drink and sleep without throwing up! Hoorah!Β

OMaMaMuptie-B and Tante Famina (J's mum and sister) arrive in Amsterdam and we tell them the news...

... it means Bean Fairnie can come out of the media blackout and we can finally go public!

We spill the Beans with the world with this video on social media: "We've been working on a new creative project..."

30 Nov 2021

Time for another ultra photoshoot! The 13 week scan shows Bean's brain, stomach, heart, umbilical cord, kidneys, legs (possibly a third leg 😜).

The #GenderReveal of Bean

They found it a little bit tricky to tell the gender from this angle πŸ˜‚

Bean VERY much understood the brief for the 20-week scan. All he wanted to do was flash his bits.

The Placenta Kiss

Bean's Beat is looking good at the 30-week scan. He shows D his appreciation for the placenta by kissing it.

Baby Bean Shower - Supplies party!!

D's nearest and dearest organise a surprise baby shower in Amsterdam.

Tick tock! Bean gracefully glides past his due date. He's yet to make his debut and is still cooking away. Pineapple hearts, curb walking, dates (fruity & romantic), ball bouncing, and the promise of free drinks on tap (in the form of MamaMilk) have become hourly activities to see if we can naturally induce the Labour Party.

It's felt like Christmas eve every night for the past week... waiting in anticipation for a little present to be delivered at any moment in the middle of the night.
